I’ve always wanted to make my own pizza

Pizza is my favourite meal and I’ve long harboured a not-so-secret wish to make my own from scratch. So two weeks ago when Halloween came around and I wanted to make a Halloween-themed pizza I figured there would be no better time to learn.

Dough is fairly simple and kneading dough is incredibly relaxing. Already off to a good start – my favourite comfort food is also therapeutic to make. This pleases me.

Doesn’t seem like a lot of dough but an hour later...

Voomf! Big dough! Then the recipe actually reads “punch down dough with fist”. Making pizza getting more and more fun with each passing moment.

While waiting for the dough to rise I made my own sauce which made the house smell amazing – all tomato-y and thyme-y.

 Mmmm...

Pizza construction stage 1: Roll out the dough and put the sauce on top.

Pizza construction stage 2: Add lots and lots of cheese...

Pizza construction stage 3: Halloween toppings – pumpkin, black olives and feta.

And 15 minutes later I had one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten, if I do say so myself (and you know I do).

Success! I can see myself making my own pizzas A LOT in the future – and my Halloween one every year.

Oh yeah – that is a pizza shaped, pizza patterned, pizza plate in the picture above. It’s a much-loved present from a good friend who knows me too well! Pizza, pizza, pizza!

Also, because it was Halloween, nature decided to play along by depositing a giant spider on my kitchen window to complete the theme:

Urgh! I’m so glad it was on the outside.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
